A humble orator of substance in a generation of flash. A series of perfect contradictions, Drex is at once a controlled and passionate man, by turns a serious and comical mc, and a straight and honest hustler. His dedication is evident when you hear his music. Taking a strong role in all aspects of his art, Drex is often producer, editor and engineer. A spokesman for his community, Drex’ self-styled brand of “honest music” encompasses the thoughts and aspirations of a generation.

Drex is again striking out on his own with the release of his second solo full-length project: . The proceeds of this album and all related activities (merch, release party etc.) will go directly towards completing the construction of a media arts centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that Drex has been intimately involved in putting together through his role at Remix alongside Brazilian organization IBISS and Canadian charity Schools Without Borders.

Broad Way Sleep is a Canadian music collaboration comprised of a diverse ensemble of musical talent. Led by producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Ralph Joseph, this new song writing collective has unearthed an aural adventure with their vivid cross genre compilation of pop, hip hop, soul, ska and experimental rock.

The collective of talent all neighbouring Toronto’s Kensington Market includes the production and vocal wizardry of Alexander The (www.alexanderthe.com), the sublime voice of Sarah Shafey, and the eloquent intelligence of MC Robert Bolton aka Arowbe.

Broad Way Sleep’s debut has given us a complete album adventure best suited for that dazed hour before you drift off to sleep and are in need of the perfect soundtrack for dreaming. The album’s first single, Too Late, transports you to a distant dance floor with your first love where, for a single dance, you relive the special moments that you wish would have lasted forever, but that you both knew never would. Too Late (available Nov 10th 2009) is only an introduction to the full Broad Way Sleep album, available in January, which will surely be your favourite musical escape in 2010.

The latest species to emerge from a pop noir generation, Styrofoam Ones lure you in with beastly anthems that powers a live show that consistently fills the dance floors. A unique mix of beat making, bass and drums Styrofoam Ones is committed to their DIY ethics using a unique on stage dynamic to create hoodie popping, shoulder bobbing, ass shaking sets. Sharing the microphone are Josh McGuirk and his up tempo approach to the Bass coupled with Alexander The’s on site beat and keys creations which is all anchored by Clay Jones and his just right nasty raw skill on the drums. Styrofoam Ones is one of the most innovative acts available on the scene today.

October 13th 2009 marked the release of the The Toronto-based synth-punk trio’s new self titled EP to a cult of devoted fans at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern, only one night after enlightening the nation to their unique breed of Canadian Independent sound on MTV Live. 2010 will see this full speed ahead locomotive power forward after a year that saw the band share the stage with the likes of Kid Cudi, DD/MM/YYYY, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, Eli Escobar, The Carps, Times Neue Roman and many others.  The live show is certainly a must see playing everything live instead of relying excessively on sequencers for the electronic makes this band a winner. You’ll love the look and you’ll love the feel from a roster of songs that perfectly capture the impatient energy of adolescence. The fast fusion of spacey keyboards, fuzzed-out bass and pounding drums have fashioned Styrofoam Ones a feverish mix of soulful, energetic post-punk that’s best served up in a sweaty grimy, “look at her, I gotta say something” kind of party. Say the words “Styrofoam Ones” and you’ve triggered Toronto’s new sense of hope and urgency for 2010.

“On first listen, their punk energy is what you notice, but once they get to their first chorus, the pure pop potential shines through loud and clear.  If there’s any justice in the world, someone will capture this raw, unrefined magic.” NOW MAGAZINE
